Financial Aid Policy

SMS Youth Hockey Financial Assistance Policy 

1. All Families requesting Financial Assistance must complete the Financial Aid application and submit it to the SMSYH Board of Directors. All information will be kept confidential. 

2. Applicants can apply for partial assistance or a payment plan. 

3. Financial Assistance is designed to help families get through periods of financial stress. It is not designed as an annual subsidy and limited to 2 years per skater. If further assistance is required, families can re-apply. 

4. As there are limited funds, preference will be given to those applicants whose families qualify for public assistance programs such as school lunch subsidies, medical assistance and unemployment insurance. 

5. Financial assistance will be provided to cover up to $800.00 or 50% (whichever is less) of player registration and team budget fees. 

6. Families receiving Assistance may be requested to provide volunteer hours. The number of required hours will be documented between the family and SMSYH. 

7. If the player plays for another hockey club, we will request proof that assistance is also provided by that club. 

8. All Applications will be reviewed by the board. After all applications have been reviewed you will be notified of the decision.
