8U Cross-Ice
Players will be evaluated and assigned to an SMS team that participates in the NorthStar Youth Hockey League (NSYHL) run out of the NorthStar Ice Sports Arena in Westborough. Team rosters are selected based on overall skill level to ensure competitive play at the Competitive or Developmental level. Games will be played in the 4 versus 4 cross-Ice format with blue pucks and intermediate-sized nets.
Ages
Players born in 2017-19, who have completed at least one year of our Little Devils Learn-To-Play Hockey program or an equivalent program.
Player Evaluations
Initial player evaluations are held at the end of the previous season. Final player evaluations and team placements are completed during the first two weeks of the new season in early September.
When
The season begins in early September and runs until playoffs in early March.
Where
Practices are held at Navin Arena and Valley Sports. All games will be played at NorthStar Ice Sports.
Practices
Teams practice 2 times per week at Navin Arena in Marlborough or Valley Sports in Concord.
Games
Teams will play 22-25 games over the course of the season. Games are played with Saturday or Sunday at Northstar Ice Sports in Westborough.
Uniforms
SMS jerseys and socks are required and can be purchased at our uniform provider.
2025-2026
Our 8U Cross-Ice Hockey program is for players born in 2017 - 2019. The program consists of players from Sudbury, Maynard, and Stow. Players from surrounding communities are welcome.
The core mission of the SMS program is player development. The season begins in early September and will run through March.
All players must have a current USA Hockey number at registration.
Program Cost:
Full Time Player Tuition is $1950
A non-refundable deposit of $450 is due at the time of registration. If you register after March 15th you will be charged a late fee of $100.
